excellent earthy essays | Borealis and Mossback

Today I'm popping on to praise two 5 star environmental essays that wormed their way into my earthy bookish heart. Borealis (2021) by Aisha Santorini Sloan is a lyric essay about the author's experiences being black and queer in place and out of place in Homer, Alaska (and much more) and Mossback (2023) is an essay collection by David Michael Pritchett about reconciling his relationship with the earth as a white American living through the legacy of settler colonialism (and much more!). These books both deeply impacted me and I wanted to share in case on of them is meant for your TBR. Please let me know in the comments what you think if you give either of these a read and also please share your recommendations for environmental writing of any kind that has impacted you, I would love to read it!
